Policy Informatics Using the Decision Theater

COURSE CONTENT:
Theory and practice of policy decision making especially with regards to the processing and visualization of information.  Special focus on uncertainty, visualization of quantitative and qualitative information, and collaborative decision processes.

This course will investigate the policy decision making process especially with regards to the processing and visualization of information.  The course will evaluate the research literature in this field as well as several of the practical tools available to policy analysts. The course will address the broad theories and research associated with policy decision making with subsequent classes investigating collaborative decision making, uncertainty in decision making, information media, visualization of quantitative and qualitative information, and geo-spatial information.  Classes will alternate between lectures and hands-on sessions.
